Why SPF is required all year round?
Sunscreen is so important to your daily routine.
Daily sunscreen application is essential for protecting skin from harmful UV radiation and reducing the risk of skin cancer by up to 50%. It prevents painful sunburns, premature aging like wrinkles and sun spots, and manages hyperpigmentation.
While SPF indicates protection against UVB rays, it’s equally important to consider UVA protection. UVA rays penetrate deeper into the skin and are primarily responsible for premature ageing and long-term damage. Look for sunscreens labelled “broad-spectrum,” as these protect against both UVA and UVB radiation.
It’s also important to understand that no sunscreen offers 100% protection. The difference between higher SPF values is often smaller than expected, and higher numbers can sometimes create a false sense of security, leading to less frequent reapplication. In reality, consistent and correct use is far more important than choosing the highest SPF available.
